Scattered Feathers - A Life Lesson

My friend Bekki recently posted about gossip. As I read her post, I was reminded of an illustration I heard recently at a Ladies' Conference.

The story (which is actually in a book found here) goes something like this:

"A woman is accused of ruining a reputation through gossip and visits her rabbi to see how she can atone and repair the damage. She tells the rabbi that she wants to "take back her words." The rabbi tells her to go and get his feather pillow and meet him on the top of a mountain. When she arrives with the pillow, the rabbi instructs her to open it and let the feathers go. She does and the feathers fly everywhere. He tells her that gossip spreads like those feathers in the wind.

Worried that she has not learned her lesson, he instructs her to go and collect all the feathers and bring them back to him. She realizes that she can not and that neither can she take back the gossip which ruined someone's reputation."

A poem that is in the book mentioned above says this:
Words, like feathers fly

in the wind, in the wind.

Careless words, tossed about,

cannot again be swallowed up.

Moral of the story? Don't gossip! What you say to one person can never be taken back. And even when they say they will not tell anyone else, very rarely are they able to contain that juicy information and MUST share it with one more friend, who HAS to tell just one person....ad nauseum.
A main Principle of Communication states it in this way: Communication is irreversible.
Once said, always remembered.

Be careful that the unruly member of the body is kept weakened through humble prayer and daily communication with the Lord!

I was tagged by Chriss.
My six word memoir goes like this...

"Persevere: Never, Never Ever Give Up!"

This holds true for my spiritual walk, as well as my determination to succeed in life.
No matter what comes my way, whether it is my own doing or just the way the cookie crumbles, I am determined to be the best I can be and make it to Heaven for eternity.

Christian One Liners

This morning I found the following one-liners in my e-mail in-box. I do not know who wrote these or where they were first posted but they are funny and inspiring! There are a few that are convicting and we all need to remember those especially! I hope you enjoy!

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Don't let your worries get the
best of you; remember, Moses

started out as a basket case.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Some people are kind, polite, and

sweet-spirited until you try to sit in their pews.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Many folks want to serve God,

but only as advisors.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

It is easier to preach ten sermons

than it is to live one.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The good Lord didn't create anything
without a purpose, but mosquitoes come close.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

When you get to your wit's end,

you'll find God lives there.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

People are funny; they want the

front of the bus, the middle of the road, and the back of the church.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Opportunity may knock once, but temptation
bangs on your front door forever.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Quit griping about your church;

if it was perfect, you couldn't belong.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

If the church wants a better pastor,

it only needs to pray for the one it has.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God Himself does not propose to

judge a man until he is dead.
So why should you?

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Some minds are like concrete
thoroughly mixed up and

permanently set.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Peace starts with a smile.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

I don't know why some people
change churches; what difference

does it make which one you stay
home from?

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

A lot of church members who are singing

'Standing on the Promises'
are just sitting on the premises.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

We were called to be

witnesses, not lawyers or judges.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Be ye fishers of men. You catch

them - He'll clean them.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Coincidence is when God

chooses to remain anonymous.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Don't put a question mark

where God put a period.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Don't wait for 6 strong

men to take you to church.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Forbidden fruits create many jams.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God doesn't call the qualified,

He qualifies the called.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God grades on the cross, not the curve.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God loves everyone, but probably prefers 'fruits of the spirit' over 'religious nuts!'

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God promises a safe landing,

not a calm passage.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

He who angers you, controls you!

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

If God is your Co-pilot - swap seats!

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Prayer:
Don't give God instructions -- just report for duty!

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The task ahead of us is never as
great as the Power behind us.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The Will of God never takes you to
where the Grace of God will not protect you.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

We don't change the message,

the message changes us.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

You can tell how big a person is

by what it takes to discourage him.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The best mathematical equation

I have ever seen:

1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given.

What A Wonderfully Lazy Day!!

YES!!! It is Spring Break!!
FINALLY!!

I have a whole week off; no online classes, no work, no school, and even no music practices except for Worship team practices before services. Kids in school everyday! What a life!

I woke up this morning to tell my wonderful hubby good morning, give him a kiss and send him on to work then I snuggled back under the covers for more shut eye. Well, I thought I would get more but God had a different idea and had me praying for a dear friend who had a scare at church last night that culminated in an ambulance ride and all night emergency room visit. I prayed for her for a while and then got a quick nap before rising to prepare my kids for another day of school. When I dropped them off, I found I didn't want to go back home.

So, I texted a friend, asked what she wanted from Starbucks, picked up two Mochas and 2 of their yummy doughnuts then drove to said friends' home. Her children are off track this month but were kind enough to stay in bed all morning while she and I visited and shared our burdens, cried a little, read some encouraging scripture cards, visited some more and well, basically were lazy all day. Before I knew it, it was time to pick up my kids and head home to a pile of laundry that is clean but due to Bible Quizzing and two classes that ended last week has yet to be folded and put away. So here I am, still being lazy with laundry sitting behind me as I type this post! LOL

I am looking forward to a few more lazy days this week. Tomorrow is a special day for my husband, his 39th birthday but I get to spend it all by myself, YEAH! Wednesday, I will be blessed to have lunch with a group of friends (not sure if they all remember that it is my birthday but it doesn't matter! Just spending time with them will be present enough!) who I adore and have been unable to spend much time with for the past few months. We will be enjoying lunch at the Eating Room in Redlands. Then the best part of all, two whole days with my honey who is taking Thursday and Friday off just to be with me!!!!
What a life!!
Really, God is SOOO good to me!

Ok, the laundry is calling out my name and I want to get it done before my honey gets home so he won't think he is married to a lazy slug! So, I will sign off for now!

P.S. Please, say a prayer for my friend Rebecca who is home after her scare but needs God to heal her body!!!!

I'm Back!

Hello all! I was checking my e-mail and getting ready to head to bed tonight around 9:30 when it hit me that I hadn't blogged in a few weeks. I signed in and started checking out my favorite blogs. Now here it is after 11 and I am still awake. Amazing since the last few night I have been in bed by 10.

My body and brain are exhausted from the last few weeks of outreach, drama practice, homework, school, work, church, outreach, drama practice, homework, school....well, you get the picture! It was neat tonight to log on, catch up on everyone's blogs and lives, and still be awake to enjoy it. LOL I have two weeks left in two of my 5 classes and I can't wait until that is over!

I will come back again soon and catch everyone up on life and so on at the McVay house. Don't give up on me....I am back...and I'll keep coming back.
